Best Skin-care and Make-up Value Sets 2021

Around this time of year, people tend to be more reflective. I am definitely one of those people.

I start to analyze what I did this year, what I should’ve done, what I promised myself I would do, but didn’t…

Usually, that revolves around self-care, and with it comes how much we need this holiday time off, to pamper, to relax, and to splurge on ourselves. Or others too… I guess 😜

I have compiled a list of the best of the best (in my opinion) skin-care and make-up value sets that I have bought for friends and family who loved ’em. These are brands I have used for a good chunk of time, honestly swear by, and I feel very comfortable sharing them with you because there will be something for you in here, for sure.

Prices are in CAD as I live in Canada, however all of these can be found on the brand’s site and Sephora!

Skin-care Gift and Value Sets:

Kiehl’s: Hydration Starter Kit

Kiehl’s is that brand that always, and I mean ALWAYS shows up. I don’t think I used a single thing that did not give me some results – some products gave me amazing results right away, and some require more use. Either way, these are amazing products.

If you, or someone you know, is new to skincare or want to try Kiehl’s products, this is the product for you.

It’s a duo set cleanser and moisturizer. Both are super gentle, good for all skin types, and a great intro to the brand.

Their moisturizer and cleanser helps strengthen, nourish, restore, and retain moisture.

Glow Recipe: Watermelon Glow Magic Kit

Glow Recipe - Watermelon Glow Magic Kit Clean plus planet positive

Glow recipe is another great intro brand for those new to skincare. Their products are gentle and make you feel as if you just had a facial. This set might be good for someone who kind of already knows what their face needs to help maintain the moisture, deal with uneven texture, and help reduce appearance of pores. When I use this, mixed with a lush bath, it’s like I spent the day at the spa!

It includes:

-0.84 oz/ 25 mL Watermelon Glow Hyaluronic Clay Pore-Tight Facial Mask
– 0.5 oz/ 15 mL Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops
– 5 oz/ 150 mL Watermelon Glow PHA +BHA Pore-Tight Toner

Using these products once every week/two weeks, is the pamperness your face will thank you for on that Saturday night… when you’re sitting at home 😦 because… Covid

Buuuttt once things open up more actively again, your skin will thank you! Also the watermelon scent is so amazing!! Not too sickly sweet or overbearing!

Origins: Merry Masks

Origins - MERRY MASKS Our 5 Best Mask Minis Clean at Sephora

My favorite time of year to try masks is around the holidays. There are just so many amazing sets and sales for the more expensive masks to try and experiment as to what works for me.

This set was actually gifted to me last year, or something super similar. I loved having different options to try out in one compact set.

A little goes a long way with this one. It works for all skin types, targets multiple areas as each mask differs, and it is clean of all the bad chemicals that can harm your skin.

Here are the different masks included in this value set:

– 0.5 oz/ 15 mL Clear Improvement® Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores
– 0.5 oz/ 15 mL Clear Improvement™ Charcoal Honey Mask to Purify & Nourish
– 0.5 oz/ 15 mL Drink Up™ Intensive Overnight Hydrating Mask Avocado & Swiss Glacier Water
– 0.5 oz/ 15 mL Original Skin™ Retexturizing Mask with Rose Clay
– 0.5 oz/ 15 mL Out of Trouble™ 10 Minute Mask to Rescue Problem Skin

Tatcha Dewy Double Cleanse and Hydrate Trio

Tatcha - Dewy Double Cleanse + Hydrate Trio Clean at Sephora

This is a bit on the pricey side, but so incredibly worth it. Tatcha is known for providing high end ingredients that are clean and safe for the skin. Free of sulfates and parabens and harmful chemicals that can ruin your skin over prolonged use. The smell of these products are also so nice but not overpowering.

I am sure you’ve probably heard about the Rice Water Cleanser (there is a FULL SIZE one in this set) and the Dewy Skin Cream… yes they are as good as people are saying and definitely explain the price point. The product that I was most intrigued by was the: Pure One Step Camellia Oil Cleanser. It mimics the Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleanser, which I love for removing all the dirt and makeup before going in with another more gentle cleanser for double cleansing on those days where I really need it.

I don’t think there was one person who I recommended Tatcha to, who couldn’t find even one product they loved.

Make-up Gift and Value Sets:

Pat McGrath Labs: Mini MatteTrance Lipstick Trio

PAT McGRATH LABS - Mini MatteTrance™ Lipstick Trio Skin Show

Pat McGrath is a complete icon! And these lipsticks are as well. It is a more high-end brand, so this is really the time of year where I get to experiment with these bougie brands and see if it’s worth spending an arm and a leg for their stuff.

I went for the Skin Show Trio shades, there was another set of shades as well but I loved the shades in Skin Show. These colours are so beautiful! So versatile and perfect for this holiday season. I can even wear them well into the Spring and Summer.

The product is creamy, lasts a fairly long time even when eating, and honestly suits all skin colours. I have added this to my cart twice already to gift.

Shades: omi, 1995, flesh 3

Too-Faced: Voluptuous Lashes & Plump Lips Mascara & Lip Set

Too Faced - Voluptuous Lashes & Plump Lips Mascara & Lip Set

Too-Faced is just that bitch… I really and truly have yet to try something where I am like… “Nah, ain’t for me.”

I want to, I so want to find something I hate so I can stop giving them my money, but if you’ve been on my blog for a while, you’ve see me mention them once or twice and how much I love their products.

Starting with the mascara, literally the only one you need. I have long but super straight lashes and this mascara does wonders.. I don’t even have to use a curler, which I never thought was possible as I always have to use one. It’s not so dense of a product that it clumps easily, but not super runny either. It’s got a good hold. I will say that if I don’t use a curler to start, I may need some touching up.

The lip plumper is filler without the needles and hundreds of dollars. I will sometimes just wear it alone and leave the house. It has a tingling sensation that feels cold – not gonna lie I love that feeling because it means it’s working – but soon it’s gone and you’re left with luscious lips. You can also add it as a top coat to any lipstick and it give you the glossy look without being sticky.

Rare Beauty: Mini Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Trio

Rare Beauty by Selena Gomez - Mini Soft Pinch Liquid Blush Trio

When you buy these blushes, you will not need to buy any other blush. They are sooooo pigmented and a little goes a loooong way.

I would say these are perfect for if you have more dry skin as it is a liquid blush. I have tried it with the Too-faced foundation, Nars, and Rare Beauty foundation, and it blends so effortlessly with them all without pulling at the foundation layer. It also lasts a while, I rarely reapply after a full day wearing this blush.

The shades are so universal and go with a day or night look.

Also the entire message and mission of Rare Beauty for mental health makes me happy to support a brand that’s outspoken about a cause many people, include myself deal with.

Shades: Bliss, Hope, Peace

Price: $32 CAD

Morphe: Bring the Glam 4-Piece Eye Essentials Set

Morphe - Bring The Glam 4-Piece Eye Essentials Set

I bought this one for my younger sister. She is just getting into make-up and Morphe was the perfect start. Honestly, most drugstore eyeshadows are not pigmented enough and have so much fall-out. I think they are getting a little better, but Morphe is that sweet spot between drugstore pricing and high end quality.

Almost all my palettes are Morphe and are the only ones I use consistently.

This is a perfect set for starters to makeup. The shades are both night and day, with a shimmer and some mattes. It’s such a good intro to eyeshadow for someone looking to learn, or such a good everyday compact palette to throw in your purse.

It also includes a mascara and two brushes – which btw the brushes are the best! It’s an all in one eye make-up must have.

Sephora Favorites: Holiday Makeup Must Haves Set

Sephora Favorites - Holiday Makeup Must Haves Set

So I think the Sephora Favourites are the ones I look forward to the most every year.

If you have a Sephora near you or able to order their products online, you would have seen something like this before. Basically, Sephora puts together a bunch of their best selling products in a kit of minis and some full size ones. They range from different price points and brands/products so you can explore more!

Here is what is included:

– 1 x .15 oz/ 4.6 mL Kosas Wet Lip Oil Gloss
– 1 x beautyblender original beautyblender makeup sponge (full size)
– 1 x .11 oz/ 3.5 mL Benefit Cosmetics 24-Hour Brow Setter
– 1 x Natasha Denona Biba 3-Pan Palette
– 1 x .004 oz/ .13 mL Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer
– 3 x Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare Alpha Beta® Extra Strength Daily Peel pads
– 1 x .42 oz/ 12.5 mL FENTY BEAUTY by Rihanna Full Frontal Mascara
– 1 x 1 oz/ 30 mL MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Primer and Setting Spray
– 1 x OUAI Leave In Detangling and Frizz Fighting Leave in Conditioner

Price: $71 CAD

I get so giddy when the value and gift sets come out!!! I have to hold myself back from trying everything out but there are some gems (like the ones above) that stand out every year.

Hopefully this was helpful with finding that perfect something for the skin care and make-up lovers in your life!

Have you tried any of these sets? Which one caught your eye the most?
